ITI Admission Open for 2022-23: How to Apply and What Are the Eligibility Criteria

The Indian Technical Institutes (ITIs) are technical education institutes which teach various technical and other crafts like carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring, welding, plumbing, boilermaking and more. These institutes are government-owned and governed by the Directorate General of Training & Technical Education under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). ITI courses are ten months long and each course has its own eligibility criteria to join. There are total 96 ITIs in India.

ITI admission is open to candidates who are in their final year of 10+2 or equivalent. What do you need to pay attention to while applying?


The admissions are purely merit based. All candidates who have passed their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or its equivalent from a recognized board with at least 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply. An individual must also satisfy a set of age restrictions as well. Applicants must be between 16 and 21 years of age when they appear for selection process. There should be no break in continuity in education till 15th grade.

These include completing Class 10 (or equivalent) with at least 60% marks in each subject, as well as securing 60% overall. Students also need a pass in English, mathematics, and science.
